Our values are co-created and influenced by the entire Norrsken team. For us, values are not just shiny words on a wall, they give us an identity and provide clarity on what behaviors we encourage.
These values guide us to make the right decisions - decisions that are in line with who we are and what we stand for. They help us build trust, not only within the team but across the entire Norrsken ecosystem. We use them to enable a climate where innovation and creativity thrive under constraint.
We know that the world is facing catastrophic risks and massive suffering. We therefore need to make sure to prioritise the most impactful projects and initiatives, and drive them as quickly and effectively as possible.
The sooner we get things done, the more compounded impact we’ll have. We also deliver these projects to a high enough quality to make a difference, so we sometimes focus on fewer things, but we do them better and faster. This means that we dare to kill darlings, we question old ways and we find the solution that will get us the farthest.
We are a team of people that step up and say “I’ll do it, I’ve got it, don’t worry about it - I’ll let you know if I need support.” Ownership brings accountability and high standards to everything we do.
This is written in first person singular, because clear individual accountability enables us to work more seamlessly as a team (and to avoid tragedy of the commons). We praise actions over words, step up when needed and we move out of our comfort zone to get shit done.
We’re doing a lot of things for the first time, so we usually have to learn by diving into the deep end of the pool and by being fearless. Even if we haven't seen or solved a specific problem before, we’ll figure it out together. We’re problem solvers, we search for best practices, look for external inspiration and reach out to experts when needed. With relentless curiosity and resilience we shift the perspective and we translate mistakes into learnings.
We believe that together, we can go further and faster. Our team is our engine, and we give it the care and maintenance it deserves - no part of the team can achieve our mission in isolation. We work together to reach our goals and treat each other with respect and consideration along the way. We support, help, boost and celebrate each other, as well as prioritise time for coaching and sharing skills.
We value openness and transparency and we strive for constant improvement. We give honest, respectful and useful feedback, we value diverse perspectives and welcome constructive and challenging ideas.
We actively work towards creating a safe space where people feel comfortable in venting opinions and disagreeing openly. This is key to finding the best way forward.
